It Was a Warm and Sunny January Day...

...when I read about the Governor's and the State Director of Education's plan to form an advisory council of 15 students to provide input regarding reforming the state's education system.
For months at Northwood-Kensett, we'd talked about our desire to include students in our professional development somehow. We never got it done. Until, that is, last December.
At that in-service, we had a student panel to help our teachers understand what it's like "on the other side of the desks." That session received high marks from teachers as being informative, insightful, and usefully impacting their instructional practices.
Governor Branstad and Director Glass have the right idea bringing these 15 young people to the table to balance the dialogue about a first class education system.
